When the owner bought this 1970 Swinger in 2014 in Missouri, the memory of the almost identical Dart he owned in his early driving years was a huge factor. The only difference was that his first Dart was a four speed manual, but in 8 years, he added less than 300 miles to the odometer which reads a total of 76,605 believed-to-be-original miles, and the owner claims that he wouldn’t even consider selling this true Scat pack Dodge if it wasn’t an automatic. The clean Florida title is in his name.
The exterior in “B5 Blue” comes with everything a Muscle car lover desires – wide wheels, simulated hood scoops and a bumble-bee tape stripe. The paint has been resprayed in the past and is described by the owner as “driver condition”. The tape stripe has started to come off in places, the chrome shows off very nicely, and the overall appearance is nice and straight. Cragar SS chrome steel rims with brand new 215/60-14 BF Goodrich radials complete the classic Muscle car look.
The wonderfully preserved black vinyl interior features a front bench seat and is in very good condition – no discoloration, no warping, no wear or tear. Everything works exactly as designed, including the factory installed air conditioning. A nice sound system with several speakers and two amplifiers installed under the front seat provide acoustic pleasure. A Summit aftermarket oil pressure gauge is mounted under the dashboard.
The numbers-matching 340 cu in. V8 with four barrel carburetor generates 275 hp. It is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission which has been replaced in the past. Steering box, radiator, the fuel system including the gas tank and fan shroud are new, a brand new Zenith electronic ignition comes with the car. The V8 just received a tuned-up, the front control arms and bushings are new as well. The undercarriage is very clean, with only very little signs of surface rust.
